Mahindra Comviva selects Radisys’ T-Series Ultra Platform
New Delhi, India, November 14, 2014: Radisys Corporation, a market leader enabling wireless infrastructure solutions, has announced that Mahindra Comviva, the global leader in providing mobility solutions, has selected Radisys’T-40 Series Ultra Platform to deliver its Mobile Data Platform (MDP), consisting of Policy Control Enforcement Function (PCEF), Policy Charging & Rules Function (PCRF) and Mobile Internet Gateway (MIG), for its customer, a Tier1 Middle Eastern service provider. Radisys’ T-40 standards-based, telecom-grade platform delivers increased reliability and high availability that enables Mahindra Comviva to collocate the entire MDP with PCEF, PCRF and MIG onto a single system, thereby reducing the cost, power and footprint. Mahindra Comviva will roll out the T-40 Ultra in Q4 2014.
The Middle Eastern region has one of the highest mobile penetration rates in the world at97 percent, which is 19 points higher than the world average. Mobile operators in the region are experiencing bandwidth constraints due to this large volume of subscribers combined with exploding traffic demand. To help its Tier1 customer manage and monetize this traffic, Mahindra Comviva turned to Radisys’ T-Series Ultra Platform to deploy its MDP into the network. The T-Series Ultra Platform’s in-system load balancing capabilities enabled Mahindra Comviva to deliver increased performance, added functionality and greater traffic processing to its customers.
“Radisys’ award-winning T-Series platform and close collaboration with Radisys’ engineering team enabled us to offer our Mobile Data Platform on carrier-grade and open standards-based ATCA hardware. This has reduced the overall TCO for our service provider customers by 30 percent,” said Ganesh Jayadevan, SVP, Messaging and Broadband Solutions, Mahindra Comviva. “With Radisys T-Series solution, we now have a platform to cost-effectively scale to hundreds of gbps in traffic and address the growing data needs of our customers.”
Mahindra Comviva’s award-winning MDP with PCEF, MIG and PCRF enables a trio of benefits for network service providers: Manage. Optimize. Monetize (M.O.M). Mahindra Comviva’s PCEF enables operators to manage and prioritize business-critical and higher revenue traffic streams over non-critical traffic. The MIG allows operators to improve their entire data network capacity, efficiency and performance by dynamically optimizing usage of network resources with real-time policies based on multiple parameters such as network, subscriber, congestion levels, usage context, etc. With PCRF’s sophisticated real-time rating engine, operators can discover unexplored revenue streams through service innovation, targeted and flexible plans. Mahindra Comviva’s PCRF provides real-time policies that provide effective billing management features, such as tiered plans and flexible services creation, to help providers monetize their services.
“We are pleased that our partnership with Mahindra Comviva has helped them create a new business model and achieve a significant customer win in the Middle East,” said Keate Despain, vice president, business development, Radisys. “In addition, our T-Series Platforms are enabled for Software-Defined Networking and Network Functions Virtualization, for future virtualized network implementations.”
Radisys’ T-Series Platforms are a commercial off-the-shelf, open standards-based ATCA solution, pre-configured with the latest Intel silicon to meet operators’ high-performance requirements for Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) deployments. Designed for applications that require high-density and high-throughput performance, the T-40 Ultra delivers an ideal platform for telecom equipment manufacturers, and their mobile operator customers, to deploy high performance virtualized data plane applications.
