MAIT and TAIT Successfully Organised the National Conclave on IT & Electronics Manufacturing in India

Mumbai, India, May 1, 2015: MAIT, an apex body representing IT Industry in India in association with TAIT, the premier association of IT Companies in Mumbai organised the ‘National Conclave on IT & Electronics Manufacturing in India’ focused on encouraging entrepreneurship within the ICT Industry  to boost local manufacturing in India with an aim to make ‘Make In India’ dream a reality. Hon’ble Cabinet Minister of Industries, Maharashtra Government Shri Subhash Rajaram Desai was the guest of honour at the event with Dignitaries from Central Govt and State Govt of Maharashtra, CEOs of IT Companies and Leadership Team of MAIT. The conclave was themed at ‘IT & Electronics Manufacturing in India – Opportunity for IT Channel Partners, System Integrators and SMEs’ that included the panel discussion on Govt Schemes & Policies, Challenges faced by the IT Manufacturers and Opportunities to Manufacture IT Products in India. It opened with a welcome address by Mr KR Chaube, President, TAIT followed by the Presidential Address of Mr Amar Babu, President, MAIT.

On the occasion Industries Minister of Maharashtra Shri Subhash Desai said, ‘Govt is willing to invest 100 Billion USD with an aim to produce goods worth 400 Billion USD. We have an industry friendly Govt in Maharashtra and in the Center and willing to provide all support to the IT Industry. New Electronics Policy of Maharashtra supports ‘Make In India’ Programme and Manufacturing of IT Products and Hardware in Maharashtra. I welcome recommendations of MAIT and TAIT prior to its implementation. We are ready to offer the infrastructure and incentives in Maharashtra to the IT Hardware Manufacturers. We should make ‘Make In India’ Programme with the support of MAIT and TAIT IT Associations a grand success. Both the associations are doing an excellent job” he added.

Mr K.R. Chaube, President, TAIT in his welcome address said, “He expressed his gratitude to Shri Subhash Desai, Cabinet Minister of Industries, Maharashtra Govt for attending the conclave by changing his original schedule, State Govt and Policy Makers for providing full support to the IT Manufacturers and creating a conducing environment for manufacture of IT Products.”

In his Presidential Address Mr Amar Babu, President, MAIT said, “It is a proud moment for me to attend this conclave which MAIT and TAIT have brought it together. We have to see that how can we bring the partners, system integrators’, importers, traders and whole community of business partners with manufacturers to create a much larger IT Hardware eco-system which is much stronger and much more beneficial for the larger objective of enabling IT Manufacturing in the country. I hope that this conclave will create a blueprint for the IT Industry which we can take to other parts of the country. It’s a huge opportunity for manufacturers and they can look at new areas and new fields in manufacturing. I once again thank MAIT for organising the conclave here in Mumbai”.

Further in the event, the panel discussion involved the concerns and advantages of Enabling Policies, Ease of Doing Business, Stable Tax Regime, Clearance of Goods, Transportation of Goods, Creation of Larger IT Eco-System, Opportunities in Manufacturing, New Innovations in Manufacturing Products, Demand for Electronics and Trends in Electronics, Growing Penetration of IT and Telecom Products  etc. It also discussed about the implementation of the vision of ‘Make In India’ Programme and make it a reality with the support of Govt in Center, States and IT Associations like MAIT and TAIT.

The other dignitaries like Mr SK Marwah, Director/Scientist ‘F’, Dept. Of Electronics & IT, Ministry of Communication & IT, New Delhi, Mr S V Rasal, Principal Director, IDEMI, Ministry of MSME, Maharashtra, Mr Paras Shah, CEO, Neoteric Infomatique Ltd, Mr Ajay Sawant, MD, Orient Technologies Private Limited, Mr Virendra Singh, Director, IT, Govt. of Maharashtra, Mr. Chetan Bhargava, CBO, Zopper.com, Mr Raj Purohit, BJP MLA, Mumbai and Vineet Goenka, Co. Convenor IT Cell BJP  contributed to the conclave and spoke regarding Govt Policies under the ‘Digital India’ and ‘Make In India’ programme, various opportunities available in IT Manufacturing in India, Innovation, Availability of Incentives and Schemes, Importance of Infrastructure, IT Clusters and Schemes etc.

Mr Anwar Shirpurwala, Executive Director, MAIT concluded the successful ‘National Conclave of IT & Electronics Manufacturing in India’ by vote of thanks to the Cabinet Minister of Industries, Govt of Maharashtra Shri Subhash Desai, Dignitaries from Center and State Governments, Senior Executives of IT Industry, Channel Partners, System Integrators and SMEs.
