The Apps Which Would Really Benefit From VR

The rise of apps have been phenomenal the last few months. Games in particular have seen millions more downloads as people look to their smartphone devices for entertainment, products and necessities.

As technology continues to advance, virtual reality is going to play a massive part in the future. It has already arrived and is being integrated into apps and products for a number of industries, and that’s only going to continue in the years to come.

But what apps are likely to benefit most from virtual reality?

Retail Apps

The world of retail is forever changing and the current pandemic is only accelerating a consumer’s demand for online product and innovation.

Virtual reality is going to really transform how we shop via apps and online, from virtual and augmented reality fitting rooms, to being able to browse stores.

IKEA has been one brand who have really adopted this technology and are taking things to the next level.

IKEA Place allows users to use an app to place furniture into their own living spaces, ensuring people can fit the particular items into their home, and it suits the space in which they are thinking of.

This is going to become more and more popular with furniture brands especially, while high street clothing brands are also looking to innovate and maximise sales with people shopping from the comfort of their own home.

Online Casino

Online casinos have long been among the most innovative industries out there and the integration of virtual reality is already on the rise.

Some online casino games have already adopted it, although it is yet to hit the mainstream. That seems just a matter of time though and the likes of roulette, blackjack and other table games are ideally suited to virtual reality.

It’ll place the player in the heart of the casino, and with games already becoming more immersive than ever before, it seems a natural next step.

The aim of it will be to put players in the chair at the table and allow them to engage with the croupiers and other players, just as they can at live casino tables, but in a way that will bring you closer to Las Vegas than ever before.

What’s more, they are great for both expert players and those wanting to play for the first time, with a variety of free play options and no deposit offers, allowing new users to play with no need to make a real money deposit to claim. This then allows people to get a real taste of virtual reality before truly buying into it.

Estate Agents/Property Apps

Virtual viewings have been a necessity in 2020 for many people buying a home but virtual reality hasn’t yet become a thing.

That will likely change very soon, particularly in the current climate, in order to make property sales more efficient.

Foxtons and a number of other prominent estate agents are getting there with it but it’s only a matter of time before users are strapping on headsets to take tours of property.

What it’s going to be especially useful for is people that are moving to entirely new locations, potentially even to the other side of the world. It gives them the opportunity to view where they may live if an in-person viewing isn’t possible. Which is a far better option than relying on images alone.

Tourism

Equally, when the tourism industry begins to pick up, viewing a hotel via the likes of Trivago or TripAdvisor will be much more efficient with the ability to take a virtual tour of a hotel or restaurant.

Google Streetview is allowing users to do this to an extent, but this is the next opportunity to come along to really change the industry.

Of course, with many travel restrictions in place, and many businesses struggling, it may take a little time for this technology to now be adopted but it is a match made in heaven, giving holidaymakers a slice of what to expect before they even board the plane.
