Xiaomi successfully concludes Mi Fan Festival in India

Mi India has successfully concluded a record-breaking Mi Fan Festival on Mi.com, with over 1.2 million unique visitors to the site and over 100,000 smartphones and accessories sold in a day for the first time. A new game was launched on Mi Store App for Mi Fan Festival, which recorded over 2 million gameplays. Mi Fan Festival was celebrated in India to mark Xiaomi’s sixth birthday, where several newly-announced devices also made their debut, including the highly-anticipated Mi 5 and the 20,000mAH Mi Power Bank. 

Mi Fan Festival also saw the launch of several accessories such as Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro, Mi LED Light Enhanced and Mi USB Cable, along with some exciting discounts on other products. Redmi Note 3 (16GB and 32GB versions) was also available for purchase. All products were snapped up in no time by Mi fans once they were put on sale. 

Commenting on the immense success of Mi Fan Festival, Manu Kumar Jain, Head, Xiaomi India said, “Having sold more than 100,000 units in a single day on Mi.com is one of the biggest milestones for us this year. This is the first time we have sold these many units on a single day and we are extremely thankful to all of our fans for their overwhelming support for Mi India.” 

Mi.com started operations in India in June 2015. Within 5 months of launch, the website scaled up to 10 million visits per month in October 2015. Mi Store app was announced in August in the same year and currently it is one of the most popular shopping apps, ranked number 12 on Google Play. In total, there have been than 3 million installs of the Mi Store app in India. 

Mi Fan Festival in China

Mi Fan Festival brought in total revenue of RMB1.87 billion (~ US$289 million), easily surpassing the Singles’ Day record of RMB1.25 billion last year. The event has cemented itself as the industry’s leading consumer electronics sale that is eagerly awaited by consumers every year. 

Mi Fan Festival 2016 was held over seven days in China, with the Mi.com site and Mi Store app attracting a total of 46.83 million unique visitors, while recording 1.02 billion gameplays, breaking all previous records. 

Mi Fan Festival 2016 was also celebrated by other markets including Malaysia and Singapore, featuring one-day-only special sales and deals.
