New Delhi, India, May 27, 2015: Undoubtedly the world’s largest stadium with 650 million people connected to a sports page, Facebook brought millions of cricket fans together during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 season, sustaining the momentum of the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
Facebook analyzed the social conversation around the IPL season and the final match. Between April 1 and May 24, 2015, 29 million people globally had 312 million interactions about the IPL season on Facebook. In India, 21 million people had 246 interactions.
The final match between the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings drove 2.4 million interactions from 1.2 million people globally. About 75% of the conversation took place in India, with 912,000 people driving 1.9 million interactions.
